As part of the Tompkins High School project, DIG designed and modeled a pond that would provide detention for the site as well as harvest rainwater for use in irrigation. Due to the limited depth and capacity of the receiving storm sewer system, DIG designed a pond outflow that incorporated both a stormwater pump station and gravity outflow. The rainwater harvesting system designed by DIG has resulted in approximately an 80% reduction in purchased water utilized for site irrigation. In addition to the work on-site, DIG provided civil engineering services for the design and construction of a new four-lane major thoroughfare adjacent to the site.
